Transracial Adoption is just another form of adoption where a child is of different race than the adoptive parents.  Being that United States of America is full of different races and ethnicities some families consider adopting children from all kinds of backgrounds. Different transracial adoptions include African American/ Biracial Adoption, Asian Adoption, Hispanic Adoption, and Native American Adoption.

Even though you choose to raise a child of different race it is your responsibility as a parent to teach the adopted child about their ethnicity. Keep in mind, to avoid any confusion answering questions for the child on their own ethnicity is key.

  1. There is enormous controversy when it comes to transracial adoption. In 2010 ABC News wrote an article that showed the issues that evolve when it comes to transracial adoption....http://abcnews.go.com/WN/transracial-adoption-america-today/story?id=9914150#.Ttvcj66BW2k
One of the most complicated areas of transracial adoption concerns are issues of identity development. The parents of adopted children of a different race face the important challenge of ensuring that their children grow up with knowledge and pride in their racial/cultural heritage. With parents keeping this in mind and researching more on the issues and how to solve them, the problems with this form of adoption can slowly begin to get better.
